Lone Star Cyclocross Festival huge success; Boone-Roubaix ramping up

The Lone Star Cyclocross Festival was a huge success. The event featured two days of racing, including the Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop Texas Age-group Championships on Saturday and the Skill-based Championship on Sunday, drawing over 250 racers from across Texas, as well as Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Oregon.

The races were featured on the local KEYE nightly news, and Cyclocross Magazine had reporter and photographer at the race. This follows on coverage leading up to the race in both Bicycling Magazine and Spirit, the Southwest Airlines in-flight magazine. A number of nationally ranked professional riders attended the race, and thanks to numerous amateur photographers in attendance, pictures and video of the event are circulating on dozens of blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, and bulletin boards, giving our sponsors even greater coverage.

The race was also the official premier of Team Pirate Race Productions, where we solidified our position as the number one women’s cyclocross team in Texas, and demonstrated our team’s ability to host exceptional events. Our 60 members in Texas, the Carolinas, New England and Colorado not only win races, but they provide the backbone of volunteer support necessary to make our races a success.

Next up is Boone-Roubaix, April 3 in Boone, North Carolina. The next great American Classic, the race will feature miles of unpaved roads and unpredictable weather, balanced by breathtaking scenery and and the High Country’s legendary hospitality. Are you up for the challenge?
