Biggest Texas XC MTB race in years, and Team Pirate Race Productions was out in force:
Ian: a beast of a man who can do math while riding. He computed the number of pedal strokes typically required during a 6 hour endurance ride
Javier: Mr. Smiles. Always smiling even while going through pain on his 29er rigid monocog. Started slow but picked up speed throughout.
Dustin: We, collectively need to teach this boy how to climb…but first he must listen! He was a blast to cheer for. He needed motivation so we gave him some TdF style maniac fandom. Started slow but consistently was giving Cory Mosher hell so I give him a thumbs up.
Derek: “The Hare” launched out of the gates on his new bike. Sitting in 4th for much of the race then faded on the grueling last lap. It was pretty epic watching him dominate that field.
Tim: “The tortoise” had an almost Eeore attitude walking up to the line. “I’m not gonna do well…nobody likes me.” And after a rough start began to gobble up the competition! Every lap he was gaining time and at one point he was seconds behind Derek which used to be a sizable gap. An outstanding breakthrough race for this guy who ended up 6th after starting slow.
Michael: Had some trouble with his bike AND lost his car key during a topple down the steep carpet hill. Once at the top of the hill, we put his Front Derailleur cable back onto the frame and he was off (with a supporting heave & a ho)! He’s getting his Cat2 badge yet!
Patrick: One day you might see patrick on you tube chasing a rider at the Tour of California and yelling absurdities. He has the makings of a crazed fan (or perhaps he is already that way and we never knew it).
