Come join the Pirate Race Productions crew at the BooneTown ThrowDown at the Boone Fairgrounds this Sunday. We will be camped out at the start/finish where we will be training the Appalachian State Cycling Team, who we are proud to sponsor, on proper heckling technique.

Return to the Fairgrounds on Sunday, November 27 for our inaugural TurkeyCross race, because four days of in-laws and football is one day too many.

The 2012 calendar is starting to take shape, check out the tentative dates on the right. No luck so far on a new weeknight ‘crit venue, but keep your fingers crossed.

Magic Cycles AMBC Race Weekend Economic Impact Report

Pirate Race Productions today released the economic impact analysis of the inaugural Magic Cycles American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC) Race Weekend. The event was held on the public trails of the Beech Mountain Adventure Park in the town of Beech Mountain, NC, and consisted of three races – Short Track, Super-D, and Cross Country - on June 18 and 19. Thanks to the generous support of Magic Cycles, Archer’s Mountain Inn, Black Cat Burrito, Emerald Mountain Realty and Rentals, MaguraDirect.com, and Cane Creek Cycling Components the race attracted 309 racers and their guests from eight states. Participants traveled from as far as Georgia, Ohio, and Massachusetts despite severely inclement weather and the Father’s Day holiday. An economic impact analysis based on a participant survey executed June 20 to 25 demonstrates that racers spent approximately $24,880 while in the High Country, contributing $1,218 to local tax revenue.

Boone-Roubaix Economic Impact

Today we released the economic impact analysis of the Second Annual Boone-Roubaix bicycle race held in Todd, NC on April 23. The analysis demonstrates that bicycle racers and their families spent over $18,000 on lodging, meals, and other shopping while in the area for the race. Thanks to the generous support of River Girl Fishing Company, 4 Seasons Vacation Rentals, and Dolce Vita Wine Bar of Charlotte the race attracted 255 people to the area during an off-season weekend when most college students had left town for the holiday. An economic impact analysis performed by Pirate Race Productions based on a rider survey executed the week of April 24 to May 1, demonstrates that participants spent approximately $18,116 dollars while in the area, resulting in between $485 and $859 in local tax revenue. Furthermore, the event raised $300 for Wine to Water, an international non-profit agency based in Boone that brings clean drinking water to impoverished communities.
