Bio: I first started mountain biking in 2005. In 2006, I did my first mountain bike race. It was the Chupacabras 100KM in Juarez Mexico, on a $200 bike (a Haro) I bought on craigs list. I think it took me 8+ hours to finish the race, but I got a finishers jersey. I then started racing the TMBRA series. In 2007, I returned to do the Chupacabras 100KM again, but this time on a $1500 bike. I racked up another jersey and a better time. In 2008 and 2009, I focused more on the TMBRA race series, eventually winning the fall Cat 2 series. In 2010, I moved up to Cat 1. I also had to do the Chupacabras 100KM one more time (very cool to see David Tinker there). -And yes the times were better, and I have one more finishers jersey for the collection.
I also enjoy cross races when it’s off season. And now with a new cross bike, instead of a mountain bike, I hope to do more of these.
